Knit and Light Interactions

I wanted to see what would happen when light was shone onto the knits - the reflections and shadows created. I think my favourite is the rayon, monofilament and mirror ones because they are really crisp reflections. It's not clear from the photos but the structure of the knit is shown on the reflections on the wall which I like. I also love the shadows from the dichroic circles - the colours are so different to the reflections.

I wanted to capture the colour change as the viewer's perspective changes.

On a black background the colours are different.

Am planning to do a much longer piece, 30 cm wide and 2m long with a mix of mirror and dichroic. Varying the spacing between the stripes to indicate the stylised strips seen on chromosomes to show where different genes are.
